MuralKits
Community mural painting has the power to bring people together through the shared experience of art-making.
MuralKits are mural projects led by us, that invite participants to paint artwork for their own communities to enjoy.
PROCESS
We begin by creating a custom design and building out a color pallet for the space.
Then, we map out the artwork on the wall.
Next, we lead a community painting day where participants fill the wall with color.
As a final step we touch up the mural and add finishing touches so the artwork looks professional and complete.
MURALKIT PARTNERS
We’ve partnered with the National Gallery of Art, The Surfrider Foundation, The LA Museum of Natural History, the California Native Plant Society, Kidspace Children’s Museum, schools and community centers. At each site we guide participants to create beautiful murals for their own community to enjoy.
CONNECTION
Working as a group to collectively create artwork is an experience that brings people together. The process is both joyful and calm, and well suited to people of all ages and artistic abilities. We set up the wall and the paints to make the painting accessible to everyone who wants to participate.
MuralKit projects are a great fit for kids, multigenerational groups, and adults. Whether it’s a team building project or a festive community event, MuralKits are a unique way of bringing people together to create an enduring work of art.

As public artists, we celebrate local nature in our artwork to reflect a unique sense of place.
We research native species and look for stories of interconnection. Each time we learn about, sketch and paint a new plant or creature, we create a relationship with that species. And once you take the time to observe the number of petals on a poppy or paint the delicate pattern of a butterfly wing, it sticks with you. Then seeing these plants and critters out in the world feels like meeting an old friend.
Painting murals has been an interactive way for us to grow our passion and respect for the environment.
MuralKits is our way to share this applied art approach to learning that is active, interdisciplinary, and rewarding!
